When talking to people about cold sores, we encounter an awful lot of apathy about new treatments. Most people we talk to tell us that they use the same product over and over purely because it's the easiest to get hold of and they know there is nothing on the market to cure cold sores.
We often hear that people have "tried everything" – they've smothered themselves in liquorice lip balm, suffered the pain of applying neat alcohol or hydrogen peroxide (that's bleach to the uninitiated), they've even changed their diets to include echinacea and supplements of vitamin E and C.
But, typically, the results are the same – the cold sores come back and eventually they reach for the same old tube of cold sore treatment which really doesn't do any more than soften the sore and create some sort of a barrier to prevent further infection.
Bees can beat apathy
Here at Herstat we believe that bees hold the key to a new way of treating cold sores. Why – because they make a substance called propolis which has been used for centuries to treat wounds, lesions and abscesses. The ancient Egyptians reportedly used it in their mummification process.
Today we use propolis ACF, produced by bees in Canada, in a base of white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin which are used for their emollient and barrier properties.
Propolis ACF is a natural substance known for its antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. This means that our product is parabens-free.
Our clinical trials show that cold sore sufferers who applied Herstat ointment saw faster healing times, on average, of 3.5 days compared with the placebo group. And, anecdotal evidence suggests that for many of our customers, the Herstat ointment, combined with the Lip Care stick has totally changed the way their cold sores heal for the better.

Don't let the cold sore get you down
We understand the resignation and dismay felt by cold sore sufferers when they feel that dreaded tingle, but we feel sure that, for many, using Herstat can make a significant difference.
We advise users to put it on the moment they feel a cold sore coming on – carry a tube with you at all times, or leave one in your desk at work – and then reapply it every two hours, at least five times a day.
The emollient properties will sooth the pain of the blister and keep it nice and moist, while the propolis ACF will help in the healing process. Follow these instructions and you may find that your cold sore disappears faster than you could have imagined.
Try it and let us know what you think.
